Advice I Wish I Heard 3 Years Ago

The promise of my new book

    By Kieran Drew

I started writing my first book on the 1st of February.

A lot of people reached out to ask about the topic.

I joked, saying that I like to tease.

    But honestly?

    I didn’t know either.

My original plan was to write a book for entrepreneurs who want to grow their business through writing.

After all, I’ve made $1,173,161.74 in 36 months without a team or business partner.

… I’ve picked up an idea or two along the way.

This book would be the smart business decision, attracting my ideal customer and creating more authority in the writing space.

But as I began writing, I stumbled across a problem:

    My curiosity.

There are questions that I'd love to answer for the person I used to be.

But they don’t fit inside the promise.

    Ideas like:

    • How do you find a skill you love? (especially when you’re in the wrong career)
    • How do you overcome fear when building online?
    • How do you build a brand and audience from the ground-up? (when you have no niche expertise)

The customers who have paid me the most don't ask these questions. They're more of a beginner, philosophical vibe.

And I’ve had many people tell me that you shouldn’t sell to beginners.

It’s not where the money is.

But why is it always money that makes the decision?

What about feeling? What about meaning? What about fun?

    Doing what you want

Advice I’m embracing more and more:

Not every business decision needs to make sense on paper.

Especially as writers. You create your best work when you follow your curiosity. Your intuition exists for a reason. It leads you somewhere special, somewhere unique.

And so I've decided to write the book that fascinates me most.

Ironically, I think I have the name already:

    Digital Freedom.

If you've been following me for years, this is one of my original concepts.

I was proud when I came up with that term. But it felt too soon. After all, you can't write about freedom without achieving it (sorry, 97% of ‘influencers’).

Whilst I’m not the wealthiest writer in my space…

And have no intention of building the ‘biggest writing business’…

I am travelling the world, doing what I want every day, writing to an audience I love, and committing to a craft I'm proud of.

This is only possible because I followed a series of strategies.

…Many of which I still embrace today.

Digital Freedom compresses these concepts into a blueprint. It will help you use the Internet to build a career you love.

It won’t be out for some time as I’m taking this seriously.

But I’ll share more updates as I go.

    Cheers,

    Kieran

    💡
I am excited to write the entrepreneurial writing book too. It’ll likely be the second I create.

But after hearing Hormozi on the How I Write podcast, I realised you can write a book that both beginners and intermediates will find valuable.

After all, strategy works at every level of the game.

So if you already have a business…

But know that you could enjoy it more…

And want to create more of an impact…

    You’ll love Digital Freedom too.
