What the Smartest Writers Are Doing (That the Rest Are Overlooking)
Since I started writing in 2020, I’ve seen the online world evolve into a different machine.
And with change comes opportunity.
So let me explain how the game has shifted (and how to take advantage).
Four years ago, audience growth was the buzzword on the block.
Every social media platform was ripe for it—you just had to load up your generic templates, post your listicles, and sit back as the followers rolled in.
But it ain’t like that anymore.
In fact, this approach is one of the fastest ways to hammer the nail in your proverbial coffin.
Why?
Because it makes you a commodity in a crowded market.
When you see that sh*t on the timeline, it’s like beaming a bat signal on how clueless you are about the importance of high-quality attention.
When the Internet is so busy, so devoid of real connection, there’s one goal you must prioritise:
Relationships.
Because slip inside your reader’s shoes for a moment.
When faced with so much choice, who do you think they gravitate toward?
Who do you think they invest in?
Yep. The people they can relate to. The ones who understand their strifes and struggles. The ones with similar worldviews and beliefs.
I’ve seen this effect first-hand many times.
One recent example is the battle between email marketing software Kit and Beehiv. I’ve been asked to leave Kit several times, but I resonate with Nathan Barry—so he gets a healthy chunk o’ money each month.
Another example is my recent high-ticket coaching purchase.
I spent $32k for one year of mentorship… and that was without a sales call. I knew he was the guy for me from his content.
What do these two entrepreneurs have in common?
High-quality emails.
Because you don’t build relationships on social media. You build awareness. It sucks for the rest because it’s algorithm based. It cares not for depth or connection—just surface-level information.
But in email you have creative freedom.
There is no overlord who decides what is ‘good’ and what is ‘not’.
It’s just you and your reader.
And this is where the opportunity lies.
When you send story-driven emails that demonstrates your expertise and shares your unique lens on the world, you become a magnet for like-minded people.
You can write about ideas you believe in and invite people to invest.
And the best part?
Unlike social media, where trend cycles keep you trapped on a treadmill of re-learning, email is a life-long (and incredibly profitable) skill.
So if you’re looking for the ‘secret’, it’s been here all along.
It’s just overlooked because it ain’t sexy.
And overlooked means opportunity.
If you want to nail it, you’d love Magnetic Emails.
Some kind words from a recent customer:
Every lesson inside is 5-10 minutes with zero wasted words. You’ll see how to connect your ideas with your audience’s problems so they look forward to seeing you in their inbox.
And don’t worry if you don’t have a reputation yet.
You don’t write emails because you're an authority. You write them to become one.
